PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging element capable of preventing deterioration of a signal caused by compression in accordance with a usage of an output signal from a pixel section while enabling transmission of a large quantity of data without expanding a bandwidth of a transmission path.SOLUTION: An imaging element 102 is provided having a pixel section including a photo-electric conversion section for receiving incident light and performing photo-electric conversion. The imaging element 102 performs compression processing on a first signal, which is an image signal for imaging, output from the pixel section. The imaging element 102 performs processing different from the compression processing on a second signal with a usage different from a usage of the first signal output from the pixel section so that the second signal does not deteriorate.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
