PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress reduction in reading productivity at the time of continuous reading, in an image reading device capable of reading the original images on the opposite sides in one pass of paper, and an image formation device including the same.SOLUTION: An image reading device includes an original paper feed tray 14, an original paper ejection tray, a reading section 3, a lower white reference member 72A, a back reading section 806, an upper white reference member 804, and a control section. At the time of duplex reading, when an original sheet is carried into a sheet transfer path SP, the control section executes shading correction of the reading section 3 and back reading section 806 by controlling the reading section 3 and back reading section 806 to read the lower white reference member 72A and upper white reference member 804.
