A drive system for a vehicle comprising a rolling means fixedly mounted within an at least partially ring-shaped member which extends at least partially around the rolling means, the drive system further comprising a motor means mounted on the axle means, the axle means being mounted on the inside surface of the at least partially ring-shaped member, the at least partially ring-shaped member is separately movable and independently driven from the rolling means and the motor, when driven, acts so as to rotate the rolling means within the at least partially ring-shaped member. The rolling means may be a wheel or a spherical wheel. The at least partially ring-shaped member may be a ring or a substantially semi-circular member. The at least partially ring-shaped member may be a toothed or a gear which is actuated to steer the wheel. |
