Pharmaceutical compositions and methods are described, the compositions comprising a benzodiazepine-based compound, a NMDA antagonist, a β-blocker and antiemetic. Methods for fabricating the compositions and using them for anesthesiological applications are also described.

1. A pharmaceutical composition, comprising:
(a) a therapeutically effective quantity of at least one first pharmaceutically active compound comprising benzodiazepine moiety or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, hydrates, solvates or N-oxides thereof; (b) a therapeutically effective quantity of at least one second pharmaceutically active compound that is an NMDA antagonist or pharmaceutically acceptable salts, hydrates, solvates or N-oxides thereof; (c) a pharmaceutically suitable binder therefor; and (d) optionally, at least one pharmaceutically acceptable excipient.
