PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cover opening/closing device for a machine tool capable of easily adjusting gas reaction force of a gas spring with good workability.SOLUTION: A cover opening/closing device 60 of an automatic lathe 1 includes a gas spring 12 interposed between an opening/closing cover 11 for openably/closably covering a machining chamber 9 and a lathe body 2 side. Both ends of the gas spring 12 are rotatably supported on the lathe body 2 side via each support body. The gas spring 12 assists the opening/closing of the opening/closing cover 11. One of the support bodies includes a bracket 28 mounted by being fixed to the lathe body 2 and an oscillation cover 25 oscillatably mounted in the bracket 28. Oscillation guide means is provided between the bracket 28 and the oscillation cover 25 so as to guide oscillation of the oscillation cover 25 and fix the oscillation cover 25 at a prescribed oscillation angle. The end on the lathe body 2 side of the gas spring 12 is journaled to the oscillation cover 25 side.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 3
