PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress an amount of ink consumption while avoiding non-discharging due to insufficient ink charge into a recording head by controlling a suction operation on the basis of air pressure information of an environment where a recording device is arranged.SOLUTION: A recording device comprises: a recording head; a tank; an on-off valve that can be switched between an open state where ink is supplied from the tank to the recording head and a closed state where ink is not supplied from the tank to the recording head; a cap for covering a discharge port face; and a pump that generates a negative pressure in the cap with the discharge port face covered by the cap, in which the recording device performs a suction operation for driving the pump with the on-off valve in the open state to generate the negative pressure in the cap and then switching the on-off valve into the closed state, so as to suction ink from the discharge port. The recording device further comprises acquiring means that acquires information about air pressure in an environment where the recording device is arranged, and control means that controls the suction operation on the basis of the information acquired by the acquiring means.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
