Each electrical energy carrier lacks sharp edges and has a diameter under ten centimeters and an external surface including an orientation feature, a positive electrode, a negative electrode, and a sealed housing between the electrodes. The electrical energy carrier suspension is transferred using non-conductive pipes between the storage container and the electrical energy transfer system, a pressure source, and an alignment mechanism that interacts with orientation features of the electrical energy carriers to align them into a single layer with matching orientation as they pass through a channel with conductive plates on opposite sides and make electrical contact with the conductive plates.
