Embodiments relate generally to systems and methods for determining the residual life for a PPE device. A residual life indicator (RLI) for use with a personal protect equipment (PPE) device may comprise a motion sensor operable to detect motion of the RLI; a display; a microcontroller unit operable to receive information from the motion sensor, process the information received from the motion sensor, and send information to the display; and a timer operable to cumulatively add time of motion as indicated by the motion sensor, wherein the RLI is attached to a PPE device, wherein the microcontroller unit processes the motion detected by the motion sensor to determine when motion indicates that the PPE device is in use, and wherein the PPE device is on a testing schedule having a total time of use allowed until testing is required, known as residual life of the PPE device. |
