PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a state determination device of an internal combustion engine which can surely determine whether or not a cylinder is deactivated, and a state determination method of the internal combustion engine.SOLUTION: A state determination device of an internal combustion engine comprises: a cylinder deactivation control part 250 which performs cylinder deactivation control for deactivating a part of a plurality of cylinders 102a, 102b, 102c, and 102d which are possessed by the internal combustion engine 100; a rotation acquisition part 210 for acquiring the rotation of a cam shaft 112 which drives an intake valve of an exhaust valve; a Fourier analysis part 220 which analyzes the rotation of the cam shaft 112; and a cylinder deactivation state determination part 230 which determines a motion state of at least either of the intake valve or the exhaust valve of a deactivated cylinder on the basis of a result of the Fourier analysis by the Fourier analysis part 220.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 4 |
