PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide methods of reducing an undesirable impact of solution carry-over in a hematoxylin-eosin staining system.SOLUTION: A method comprises the steps of (i) contacting a specimen with a pH buffered solution, which comprises an organic acid and a polyhydroxy alcohol, and (ii) transferring the specimen to a hematoxylin staining solution.SELECTED DRAWING: None
