An IEGT-based high-power three-level converter power unit, comprising a frame (1), wherein upper and lower sides of the frame are respectively provided with an upper clamping plate (2) and a lower clamping plate (3). A first press-fitting module, a second press-fitting module, a clamping resistor (R1), a first absorption capacitor (Cs1) and a second absorption capacitor (Cs2) are provided between the upper clamping plate and the lower clamping plate, wherein the first press-fitting module is mutually symmetric with the second press-fitting module; the first press-fitting module comprises a first IEGT (T1), a second IEGT (T2) and a first clamping diode (D5); and the second press-fitting module comprises a third IEGT (T3), a fourth IEGT (T4) and a second clamping diode (D6). The IEGT-based high-power three-level converter power unit has a large power density and a compact structure, and a converter power cabinet has a small volume.
