A composition for protecting skin from ultraviolet radiation is disclosed. The composition comprises a filter and an effectiveness indicator responsive to the reduction of effectiveness protection. A sunscreen comprises a sunscreen filter and an effectiveness indicator indicative of the effectiveness of the sunscreen filter. In particular, the indicator is a photochromic dye, which may be microencapsulated. A further composition comprises a photochromic microcapsule slurry and a microencapsulated photochromic dye. |
