PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a parking support device capable of practically preventing a vehicle itself from crossing a parking boundary when parallelly parking in a parking space next to a parked vehicle by moving back the vehicle itself.SOLUTION: A rear distance measurement sensor transmits search waves sequentially toward a side direction of a rear wheel of a vehicle itself or backward relative to the rear wheel so that the vehicle itself, receiving reflection waves sequentially, moves back while detecting a side surface of an adjacent vehicle parked in a parking space on the parking space side. Further, in a case where given variation is observed in intensity of the reflection wave sequentially detected by the rear distance measurement sensor during the move-back, it is determined that a wheel of the adjacent vehicle on a front side of the parking space or that on a back side of the parking space is detected. Then, a parking position of the vehicle itself is determined on the basis of a position of the wheel on the back side of the parking space. The determination of the parking position of the vehicle itself on the basis of the position of the adjacent vehicle on the back side of the parking space makes it possible to reduce an influence of a vehicle length depending on a vehicle type, practically preventing the vehicle from crossing a parking boundary, compared to a method of determining the parking position on the basis of a front end position of the adjacent vehicle. |
