A vehicle 10 including a kinetic energy recovery system 12 is provided. The kinetic energy recovery system 12 includes a flywheel 14 supported for rotation by a flywheel shaft 16 in a vacuum enclosure 18. A first vacuum pumping arrangement 34 evacuates the vacuum enclosure 18 and a second vacuum pumping arrangement 38 of the vehicle 10 evacuates the recovery system 12. The flywheel shaft 16 may be a common drive shaft with the first vacuum pumping mechanism 34. |
