PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piston and an internal combustion engine capable of inhibiting the wear of a ring groove while inhibiting the weight of the whole piston from being greater.SOLUTION: A piston 30 of the internal combustion engine includes a piston body 31, and a wear-resistant ring 50 formed of a material having a higher gravity than a material for the piston body 31. The wear-resistant ring 50 constitutes side faces 32A and 32B and a bottom face 32C of a top ring groove 32. An outer diameter R1 of a first opposite wall 51 of the wear-resistant ring 50, located on the side of a piston top surface 35, is larger than an inner diameter R2 of a top ting 41 stored in the top ring groove 32, but is smaller than an outer diameter R3 of the piston body 31. |
