A method for checking the consistency between documents involved in a writing project includes analyzing received digital documents of the writing project for consistency errors. The document analysis is performed against a graph model of the writing process that links digital documents available in the writing project. The graph model includes a plurality of nodes and links between them. Documents are associated with the nodes and links between the nodes describe the direction and type of consistency to be achieved between the documents. The consistency analyzer performs a consistency analysis and reports consistency errors.
