PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coloring composition capable of forming a colored membrane having suppressed elution of a coloring agent during alkali development, staining of the coloring agent, thermal diffusion of the coloring agent by a heating treatment (color migration) and development residue.SOLUTION: There is provided a coloring composition containing at least one constitutional unit represented by the following general formula (A) as a coloring agent in a range of 57 mass% to 100 mass% and having a weight average molecular weight (Mw) of 5,000 to 20,000, a dispersion degree (weight average molecular weight (Mw)/number average molecular weight (Mn)) of 1.00 to 2.50 and containing a dye multimer having a specific alkali soluble group.
