An oxygen consumption electrode consists of a carrier in the form of a sheet, and a coating with a gas-diffusion layer and a catalytically active component. The coating comprises a fluorine-containing polymer, silver in the form of silver particles and/or reducible silver compound, and a hydrophilic, non-electroconductive or poorly conductive, alkali-resistant filler material having an average particle diameter of 5-200 mu m.
