An energy storage system according to an embodiment of the present invention comprises a battery managing system and a power managing system. The battery managing system monitors a battery state of a battery and controls charging and discharging operations of the battery. The power managing system determines a control target value of the battery, acquires power market settlement rule information of a power market to which the energy storage system belongs, calculates a dead band value for the control target value based on the acquired power market settlement rule information, and controls the charging and discharging operations of the battery based on the calculated dead band value for the control target value and a monitored battery state. According to the present invention, it is possible to suppress an unnecessary battery control operation by maintaining a state of charge (SOC) level of the battery within a dead band value for a determined control target value. |
