PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the reaction velocity when polyester polyol is reacted with an isocyanate compound to produce polyurethane and to improve the tensile strength, elastic recovery rate or the like of the obtained polyurethane.SOLUTION: A method for producing polyurethane comprises a step of reacting the polyester polyol with the isocyanate compound in the presence of sugar and/or a derivative thereof. The present amount of the sugar and/or the derivative thereof is determined to be 0.1-80 ppm by weight of the total amount of a polyhydroxy compound in a reaction system and the sugar and/or the derivative thereof. When the polyester polyol is produced by an esterification reaction or an ester interchange reaction of dicarboxylic acid and/or a derivative thereof with a dihydroxy compound, the obtained polyester polyol contains the sugar and/or the derivative thereof since the dihydroxy compound contains the sugar and/or the derivative thereof. |
