PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a separator for an electrochemical element, having an adequate shutdown (SD) effect while having high material transparency in a normal use environment, causing no meltdown and short circuit in a high-temperature environment, and high in safety and reliability; a simple method for manufacturing the separator for an electrochemical element; and an electrochemical element including the separator for an electrochemical element.SOLUTION: A separator for an electrochemical element is made of a material obtained by laminating nonwoven cloth that has not a melting point at 220°C or below and a thermally meltable layer including an SD material having a melting point of 80-150°C. In the separator, a relationship represented by the following expression (I) is satisfied. A>-2.8×10×F+150 (I) (where, A represents a volume ratio (volume filling rate) of the SD material in the thermally meltable layer with respect to the void volume of the nonwoven cloth per unit area, and F represents a melt flow rate (MFR) of the SD material.) |
