The present invention relates to an air conditioner, and a method for controlling the same. The air conditioner comprises: an indoor temperature measurement unit measuring the indoor air temperature; an outdoor temperature measurement unit measuring the outdoor air temperature; a heat exchanger temperature measurement unit measuring the inlet temperature of at least one indoor heat exchanger and the outlet temperature of at least one indoor heat exchanger; and a processor determining a reference superheating degree by using the indoor air temperature and the outdoor air temperature, obtaining a difference between the inlet temperature and the outlet temperature of at least one indoor heat exchanger, and comparing the difference of the inlet temperature and the outlet temperature of at least one indoor heat exchanger with the reference superheating degree, and determining whether or not a refrigerant circulation amount is normal depending on a result of comparison.
