PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance safety in a getting on/off area of a mechanical parking facility by simple structure.SOLUTION: An area detector comprises: region measurement sensors 36A and 36B which detect a position, size, a shape of a vehicle 2 having entered a getting on/off area 7 of a mechanical parking facility 1 to acquire vehicle contour data V, detect real time data D2 in the getting on/off area 7, and can recognize the presence of an object except the vehicle 2; and a controller 30 which sets the remaining range of the getting on/off area 7 except a range of the vehicle contour data V input from the range measurement sensors 36A and 36B as a detention detection range E, and stores a state of the detention detection range E as stocking initial data D3. The control means 30 determines presence/absence of difference by comparing the real time data D2 with the stocking initial data D3 when a start operation of the mechanical parking facility is performed, originates a start permission signal to start the mechanical parking facility 1 when it is determined that there is no difference, and issues an alarm when it is determined that there is the difference. |
