摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress transient deterioration of controllability of a rotation phase due to an insufficient flow rate of hydraulic fluid while using a hydraulic pump of a capacity as small as possible, in a hydraulic variable valve device including a first variable valve mechanism in which the rotational phases to a crank shaft, of a first cam and a second cam are variable, and a second variable valve mechanism in which a rotational phase of the second cam to the first cam is variable.SOLUTION: The first variable valve mechanism or the second variable valve mechanism of which driving is prioritized, is determined on the basis of change of engine operating conditions, when a supply pressure of the hydraulic oil from the hydraulic pump and a discharge amount of the hydraulic pump are lowered. In a case when driving of the first variable valve mechanism is prioritized, control gain of the second variable valve mechanism is lowered, and when driving of the second variable valve mechanism is prioritized, control gain of the first variable valve mechanism is lowered.
