PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyimide precursor varnish which can give a polyimide having high transparency, and to provide a method for producing a polyimide varnish.SOLUTION: The method for producing a varnish containing at least an organic solvent and a polyimide precursor represented by general formula (H1) or its polyimide is characterized in that an organic solvent having a light transparency of ≥89% in an optical path length of 1 cm and a wavelength of 400 nm is used as an organic solvent (hereinafter, an organic solvent to be used) contained in the varnish to produce the varnish.
