A string cutter 1 is attached to a bale fork, the cutter being spear shaped and having a concealed knife blade within the spear. The cutter may have a safety guard 4 for protecting the blade. The cutter may be attached to the base of the bale fork handle by welding. The spear shape allows the cutter to easily pass under bale strings.
