The present invention addresses the problems of providing an anticancer drug comprising a carotenoid and of providing a novel carotenoid and an antioxidant comprising the novel carotenoid. The above problems are solved by the discovery that a lycopene derivative and a γ-carotene derivative contained in an extract of the aril of Momordica cochinchinensis have excellent anticancer activity. The present invention further provides a novel lycopene derivative, a novel γ-carotene derivative and a novel antioxidant comprising these substances. A dietary composition comprising the lycopene derivative and the γ-carotene derivative are also provided. |
