PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten the time until obtaining an inclination of an original, in an image reader which obtains the inclination of the original and corrects the inclination.SOLUTION: The image reader includes a conveyance section, a read section, an F sensor and a CPU, and the CPU executes right side distal end edge data retrieval processing to a right side distal end edge image read using a reference read element and a right side read element among distal end read images SG1 read by the read section (S34). Then, in the right side distal end edge data retrieval processing, when distal end edge data is not retrieved in a reference distal end edge image read using the reference read element, an inclination &thetas; of an original G is detected using the distal end edge data retrieved in the right side distal end edge data retrieval processing. Since left side distal end edge data retrieval processing is not executed to a left side distal end edge image read using a left side read element, the time until obtaining the inclination &thetas; of the original can be shortened. |
