The invention relates to a filter element (1) for filtering a gas flow. The filter element (1) comprises a frame element (2), a first outer mesh (3), and an elastic element (5) biasing said first outer mesh (3) to said frame element (2). The filtering element (1) is characterised in that it further comprises a first screen (6) which is interposed between the first outer mesh (3) and the elastic element (5). The first screen (6)covers the area of the first outer mesh (3) through which the gas flow travels. The invention further relates to a spray dryer (9).
