The invention relates to a method for determining a desired movement of a limb, in which a portion of a body surface is observed at a body site, at which at least a part of the muscles moving the limbs is present. The muscle movements are optically detected in said portion. The thus detected muscle movements are evaluated and the desired movement of the relevant limbs is determined therefrom.
