The invention relates to a rope terminal arrangement (A) of an elevator, the rope terminal arrangement (A) comprising a belt-shaped hoisting rope (R), and a gripping device (1) arranged to grip a rope section (S) of the belt-shaped rope (R) via first and second gripping face (12,22) facing each other and set against opposing first and second side (s1,s2) of the rope section (S) placed in a gap between them, the gripping device (1) comprising
a wedge frame (F) delimiting a wedge-shaped space (W) wherein said rope section (S) is placed; and
a first gripping member (10) in the wedge shaped space (W), the first gripping member having said first gripping face (12) set against the first side (s1) of said rope section (S), said first gripping face (12) being provided with uneven surface pattern (P) for facilitating grip between said first gripping face (12) and said first side (s1) of the rope section (S); and
a first wedge member (11) wedged in the wedge shaped space (W) between the wedge frame (F) and the first gripping member (10) such that it wedges the first gripping member (10) to press with said first gripping face (11) against the first side (s1) of the rope section (S).
