The invention relates to a method for detecting water in a tensioning buoy of a riser column of an installation located in an aquatic environment, said method being characterised in that it comprises, in succession, steps of: defining a representative standard echo (EE11); emitting said ultrasonic signal on a wall of said buoy; measuring a representative response echo (ER11) due to the reflection of said ultrasonic signal in said buoy; comparing said representative response echo to said representative standard echo; and determining whether water is present in or absent from the buoy from said comparison. |
