A method and an apparatus (20) provide for camera calibration. A focus evaluation unit (22) determines (10) a current focus set for a camera to be calibrated. A calibration unit (23) then adapts (11) calibration of the camera based on the current focus by adapting an intrinsic matrix of a pinhole camera mapping function, e.g. by determining an adaptation term for the intrinsic matrix of the pinhole camera mapping function based on a focus stroke resulting from the current focus. For example, the adaptation term is a correction matrix that is added to the intrinsic matrix.
