A method of producing a ribbon 51 having personalised indicia printed thereon comprises: providing an adhesive-backed vinyl sheet 41 mounted on a sacrificial layer (45, fig 4); printing the personalised indicia onto a front face of the vinyl sheet 41; removing the sacrificial layer (45) from the vinyl sheet 41; providing a ribbon 51 for reception of the vinyl sheet 41 having the personalised indicia printed thereon; and applying the vinyl sheet 41 to the ribbon 51. The vinyl sheet 41 acts as a sticker or label. The vinyl sheet 41 preferably includes a resin layer on the surface that receives the printed indicia; the indicia are preferably printed with a laser printer and the vinyl sheet 41 is preferably colourless. |
