A communications terminal 10 with a display 32, a power supply coil 34 and a shield plate 33 electromagnetically coupled to the coil 34 so that the shield plate 33 functions as a booster antenna and communicates with a partner on the opposite side of the display, such as a smartcard. The display 32 shows the location of the coil which may enable a user to correctly position a smartcard on a mark indicating the centre of the coil 34. The display 32 may have a touch panel 31 of the electrostatic capacitance type, with a liquid crystal display. The LCD may have transparent electrodes which are equally spaced. The communications terminal 10 may be a smartphone and communicate via NFC with a reader/writer, such as a smart card.
