A fuel cartridge (5) for a fuel cell has a cartridge body (8) for receiving liquid fuel for the fuel cell and also has a nozzle section (9) for supplying the liquid fuel to a fuel cell body. The nozzle section (9) has a nozzle head (12) provided at the cartridge body (8) and having an insertion section (14) inserted in a socket section (6) of the fuel cell body, and also has a valve mechanism (19, 20, 21, 22) placed in the nozzle head (12). A recess (15) is formed in the tip of the insertion section (14) of the nozzle head (12). Liquid fuel left at the tip of the nozzle section (9) is received in the recess (15).
