A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery is provided to ensure high-temperature storage ability and to maintain discharge rate after high-temperature storage. A non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery comprises a positive electrode having a positive electrode active material layer which is capable of absorbing and discharging lithium ions reversibly, positioned on a positive electrode collector; a negative electrode having a negative electrode active material layer which is capable of absorbing and discharging lithium ions reversibly, positioned on a negative electrode collector; and non-aqueous electrolyte solution. At least one of the positive electrode and the negative electrode has a film on their surface and at least one of the positive electrode, the negative electrode and non-aqueous solution has a nitrogen-containing cyclic compound.
