The invention relates to a medium processing device which can read marks printed on a medium even though the inserting position of the medium is not determined. The medium processing device (100) can process a medium (2) having a width less than that of a travel road (1E), the medium processing device includes a storage part (30) which stores marking positions of the marks (2A) endowed as read objects to be used as one or more alternates based on the kinds of mediums; a mark detection sensor (11) which detects the marks from the mediums, a reference position detection sensor (10) which detects the reference position of the reference of the marks from the specified parts of the mediums, and a controller (20) which reads out one or more alternates, deduces the positions of the marks endowed by the mediums based on the reference position and the marking position of the alternate, and detects the marks from the deduced positions by means of the mark detection sensor. |
