PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal composition adjusted to refractive index anisotropy (&Dgr;n), not deteriorating a temperature range of a nematic phase, and having positive dielectric anisotropy (&Dgr;&egr;).SOLUTION: The liquid crystal composition having a positive dielectric anisotropy contains one or more compounds selected from compounds represented by the general formula (LC0), and further contains one or more compounds selected from compounds represented by the general formula (LC5). In addition, the present invention provides a liquid crystal display element, which has excellent characteristics of suppressing display failure and is very practical as a liquid crystal display and effective for realizing high-speed responses. |
