Apparatus and method for testing peel strength and leak tightness of a package comprising a peel seal Apparatus (100) for testing peel strength and leak tightness of a package (8) having a peel seal (7). The apparatus (100) comprises a receptacle (10) for receiving the package, a lid (5) for closing the receptacle, the lid and receptacle enclosing a chamber (13) for holding the package, a movable element (16) arranged to be positioned in a first position and in a second position, a pump (4) for reducing a gas pressure inside the chamber (13), and a pressure sensor (2) for determining the gas pressure inside the chamber. In the first position the chamber has a first volume that is larger than an outer volume of the package (8) such that, in use, the peel seal (7) of the package in the receptacle is free to release. In the second position the chamber (13) has a second volume that is complementary to the outer shape of the package (8). |
