Device comprises: (a) a covering material (2) for the airtight sealing of the wound and surrounding skin; (b) an agent for producing low pressure in the wound area (1); and (c) an open cell foam based on a crosslinked polyorganosiloxane (3) as a wound dressing. Independent claims are included for: (1) a ready to use kit for negative pressure wound treatment comprising the covering material, the agent for producing low pressure in the wound area, preferably an agent for the functional connection of the wound area with the covering material located outside the vacuum source, so that a vacuum is produced in the wound area and fluids are sucked from the wound area, and the open cell foam; and (2) the open cell foam.
