Disclosed is a location beacon (25), especially for use in marine data recorder systems, comprising a housing (11), an activation unit for emitting signals, particularly ultrasonic signals, at least two poles (27) for measuring the conductivity of liquids, and a power supply unit. In order to render said location beacon (25) simple and durable, an alternating current is applied to the poles (27), and the activation unit is controlled by a controller. A corresponding method is also disclosed. |
