A atomiser 26 for an electronic smoking device (10) comprising at least a first heating wire 40and a second heating wire 50, wherein the first and second heating wires wound together to form a common heating coil 28, and the first and second heating wires have at least one different physical parameter giving rise to different thermal properties. The atomiser may be wound in such a way that the first and second wires form a first coil 41 and second coil 51 respectively wherein the first and second coils extend in the same direction and are staggered in respect to each other such that one turn of the first heating wire is neighboured by at least one turn of the second heating wire. The axis of the first coil 43 and the axis of the second coil 53 can be parallel or be identical. The first and second wires may be made of different materials or have different surface profiles. The first and second heating wires may have a variable or constant cross-section along their lengths. The diameter or length of the first heating coil may differ from that of the second heating coil. |
