<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock device capable of improving installation workability of a cable member, by facilitating a layout in the vicinity of an operation handle, in a tail gate of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This lock device of a vehicle opening and closing device connects an operation mechanism 20 and a lock mechanism by the cable member 30. The cable member 30 has a wire cable 31, and a cable case 32 for covering this wire cable 31. Both end parts of the wire cable 31 are respectively connected to the operation mechanism 20 and the lock mechanism. The cable case 32 is displaced so as to deflect along a door surface by operating the operation handle 12 equipped in the operation mechanism 20, and the lock mechanism is operated by relatively displacing the cable case 32 to the wire cable 31.
