A method for coating a sulfide phosphor and a light emitting device employing the coated sulfide phosphor are provided to improve the stability with respect to a moisture of the sulfide phosphor by coating a composite oxide layer on a surface of the sulfide phosphor using a sol-gel reaction. Water, alcohol, silicon oxide precursor of TEOS(Tetra Ethyl Ortho Silicate) or TMOS(tetramethylorthosilicate), boron oxide precursor of a boron triethoxide, and sulfide phosphor are mixed(s01), so that a preliminary coating layer is formed on a surface of the sulfide phosphor through a reaction of the precursors(s03). The phosphor with the preliminary coating layer is dried(s05). The dried phosphor is heated under temperature of 200 to 600 °C, so that a composite oxide layer of SiO2 and B2O3 is formed from the preliminary coating layer.
