PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an overcoat core having excellent coating removal force for removing an overcoat layer of 50 mm or more, also excellent in coating removal properties under low temperature conditions after aging; and an optical fiber cable having the overcoat core.SOLUTION: An overcoat core 1 includes an optical fiber colored core 2 having dynamic surface friction force in a specific range and an overcoat layer 3 containing polyol with a weight average molecular weight of 3000 to 4000 in a specific range relative to the overcoat layer 3. The whole of the overcoat layer 3 has a Young's modulus in a specific range at 23°C. Consequently, The coating removal force has a maximal value in a proper range when the overcoat layer 3 is removed, so that the overcoat layer 3 can be smoothly removed from the optical fiber colored core 2, resulting in efficient coating removal even for length of 50 mm or more. In addition, the coating removal stress is properly maintained under low temperature conditions after aging, so that the excellent coating removal properties can be maintained even under the conditions. |
