PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of displaying a preview image without giving impression that processing speed is slow when an editing instruction for an image is specified.SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus includes: a storage device 172 for storing intermediate-resolution images 324, low-resolution images 322, and high-resolution images 320; a preview image generation unit 354 for generating a preview image 362 from the low-resolution image and displaying it; a low-resolution preview image generation unit 356 for editing and displaying the low-resolution image in response to an editing instruction by a user to the displayed preview image; and an intermediate-resolution preview image generation unit 358 for generating the intermediate-resolution image from the high-resolution image or the low-resolution image corresponding to a type of an original, editing it and displaying it instead of the low-resolution preview image in response to the editing instruction by the user. Thus, after promptly displaying the low-resolution preview image, it is replaced with the preview image of high image quality so as to be displayed. |
