PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce a data amount when the image data of the identification information part of a medium is stored.SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a medium recognition device for recognizing the medium. The medium recognition device includes image acquisition means for imaging the medium and acquiring an image picture, medium identification information recognition means for recognizing the medium identification information of the medium from the image picture acquired by the image acquisition means, reliability calculation means for calculating the reliability of a recognition result, in the medium identification information recognized by the medium identification information recognition means, character area image acquisition means for acquiring the character area image of a character constituting the medium identification information from the image picture, and image processing means for performing conversion processing for conversion into an image having resolution based on the reliability calculated by the reliability calculation means, in the character area image.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
