The recognizing method can effectively solve a problem of misjudging a normal bill due to a larger amplitude value fluctuation of a harmonic signal and a problem of missing a damaged bill, a counterfeit bank note or the like caused by insufficient signal sampling through lower calculation complexity in manner of detecting the mutation point of the thickness signal.
