PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a filter box excellent in removing performance of an inclusion from molten metal, and obtainable at a low cost.SOLUTION: A filter box 1 has a tank shape with an opening, and is soaked in molten metal in a state that the opening is exposed onto a liquid surface. The tank-shaped filter box 1 obtaining molten metal in the inside from which an inclusion is removed includes: a filter part 2 comprising porous ceramic, and making molten metal pass while inhibiting passage of an inclusion; and a body part 3 comprising a fire-resistant material, and holding the filter part. Furthermore, the filter box is such that: the porous ceramic comprises one or more kinds selected from alumina-based ceramic, cordierite-based ceramic, and silicon carbide-based ceramic; the body part (3) is obtained by solidifying a fire-resistant material of an indeterminate form; and the fire-resistant material comprises one or more kinds selected from alumina-based ceramic, cordierite-based ceramic, and silicon carbide-based ceramic, or the fire-resistant material comprises a black lead-based refractory material.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1 |
